It is 46 miles south of Boston and 16 miles southeast of Providence, Rhode Island. has a population of 90,931 people. is located on the eastern shore of Mount Hope Bay, at the mouth of the Taunton River. It was nicknamed “The Scholarship City” because Irving Fradkin founded Dollars for Scholars in 1958. is infamous for Lizzie Borden, a resident accused, and later acquitted of the 1892 double axe murder of her father and stepmother at her home. has the world’s largest collection of World War II naval vessels at Battleship Cove.
